With effect as of July 1, 2026, the Belgian region of Flanders implemented the EU Road Charging Directive and introduced CO₂ emission classes as an additional road toll calculation factor. There are 5 CO₂ emission classes: Class 1 (least environmentally friendly) and Class 5 (most environmentally friendly).

The toll charges continue to apply to all Belgian and foreign trucks with a maximum authorized mass (MAM) of more than 3.5 metric tons.

This tariff change is in line with European requirements and aims to further accelerate the transition to a more environmentally friendly vehicle fleet.
