Salzburg, 4 August 2023. Significant adjustments to toll rates are expected in many European countries. Experience shows that the countries always provide concrete information at a very late stage.
The following countries have already announced the adjustments:
AUSTRIA
In all expectation, the toll in Austria will be adjusted again on January 1, 2024. The specific amount and the actual date have not yet been approved.
GERMANY
With a planned date of December 1, 2023, the German government will fully utilize the maximum price under EU law of € 200 per emitted ton of CO2. This corresponds to almost a doubling of the toll. Parliamentary approval of the actual date and the specific amount is not scheduled until the end of October/beginning of November.
BULGARIA
As of June 22, 2022, the Bulgarian Council of Ministers approved an amendment to Decree 370/2019, increasing the toll as of July 1, 2022, and advising of another increase as of January 1, 2023.
