LogBATT GmbH, the battery logistics company of the Lagermax Group, has developed its own solution for storage and quarantine areas based on its transport containers. The storage containers are suitable for undamaged, damaged, and critically damaged lithium-ion batteries and are used in production facilities, workshops, take-back warehouses, and by waste management companies. They are available for purchase or rent.

What is a hazardous materials storage container?

A hazardous materials storage container for lithium-ion batteries is a type-approved safety packaging designed to contain a so-called thermal runaway in the event of damage and prevent it from spreading to adjacent cells. It is intended for the storage of batteries, not for energy storage.

This should be distinguished from battery storage containers: stationary systems that feed electrical energy into the grid or draw it from it. LogBATT GmbH supplies exclusively hazardous materials containers for transport and storage.

Regulatory framework for the storage of lithium batteries.

Für die Lagerung von Lithium-Ionen-Batterien existiert kein geschlossenes Regelwerk. Maßgeblich ist ein Zusammenspiel aus Gefahrstoffrecht, Brandschutzvorgaben und Versicherungsempfehlungen – insbesondere die VdS-Richtlinie 3103 und die DGUV-Information FBFHB-018. Die Einstufung als Gefahrgut der Klasse 9 nach ADR bleibt auch in der Lagerung relevant, weil sich daraus Kennzeichnungs- und Dokumentationspflichten ableiten.
