360° Logistics

LogBATT GmbH, the Lagermax Group’s battery logistics company, covers the entire supply chain for lithium-ion batteries: development, testing, production, after-sales service, and disposal and recycling logistics. Customers do not have to coordinate the individual steps across multiple service providers; instead, they receive pickup, packaging, transportation, storage, and transport to the recycling facility—all from a single source.

The four steps of battery logistics.

  1. Pickup and Storage — LogBATT GmbH picks up batteries from testing laboratories, manufacturing plants, car dealerships, specialty retailers, or directly from end customers. Upon request, batteries can be temporarily stored in quarantine containers.
  2. Packaging — Packaging is determined by the condition of the battery. P908 applies to damaged cells; P911 or LP906 applies to critically defective cells. Trained personnel handle the classification and packaging.
  3. Transport — Transport is carried out in ADR-compliant vehicles ranging from Sprinter-class vans to trucks. For critically defective batteries, the vehicles are modified in accordance with regulatory requirements, including a six-fold air exchange rate.
  4. Transport to the recycling facility — LogBATT GmbH delivers batteries for material recycling and prepares the required waste management documentation.

When battery logistics becomes an exception.

Three situations require immediate action and handling that complies with hazardous materials regulations:

  • Accidents and incidents—following accidents, fires, or production disruptions, affected batteries must be secured, packaged, and removed before a delayed thermal reaction occurs.
  • Recalls – affected batteries must be recalled from the market quickly and in large quantities.
  • Damaged returns from repair shops – these require safe temporary storage until ADR-compliant removal is organized.

LogBATT GmbH provides transport and storage containers for these cases and handles the entire process throughout Europe.

Waste disposal and recycling logistics for lithium batteries.

Whether it’s a single battery or several metric tons: LogBATT GmbH handles all aspects of waste disposal and recycling logistics, including the necessary permits and documentation required under hazardous materials and waste management laws. As a certified waste management company, LogBATT is authorized to collect, transport, and broker hazardous waste under waste codes AVV 16 06 05 and AVV 16 01 21.
