Lagermax Logistics acquires motorcycle Logistics specialist in the Netherlands

21.11.2022

Salzburg, Tiel, November 21, 2022. Lagermax Logistics Austria GmbH will acquire the Dutch logistics specialist MOL Cargo with retroactive effect from July 1, 2022. MOL Cargo is a logistics company that, in addition to classic transport and logistics solutions, has built up great expertise in motorcycle logistics for decades.

The company, with its headquarters in Tiel, the Netherlands, and another location in the port of Rotterdam, as well as a branch office in Ghent, Belgium, with around 120 employees. MOL Cargo has a 50,000m² warehouse and logistics space and operates regular Western European transports with its own fleet of vehicles. "With this acquisition, we are strengthening the two-wheeler logistics division that has been successful at Lagermax and further expanding the European network," said Alexander Friesz, CEO of Lagermax Group.

"The acquisition is the right step for both companies to now jointly serve our customers even better. With combined forces, MOL and Lagermax are entering the future stronger," adds Crijn Mol, Managing Director MOL Cargo.

Competence expansion in two-wheeler logistics

Especially for motorcycle logistics, MOL Cargo developed a transport system with special megatrailers, which means that motorcycles and scooters do not have to be packed before a transport. The space-saving system thus allows the transport of up to 36 motorcycles or 80 scooters per order.

For the time being, MOL Cargo will remain a strong brand in two-wheeler logistics. The managing directors of MOL Cargo as well as all employees remain on board and continue to manage the business successfully. The company started transporting two-wheelers back in 1987. This transport segment grew steadily over the decades and became a specialty of MOL Cargo. Well-known customers of MOL are companies such as Honda, Harley-Davidson, Suzuki, Kawasaki, BMW motorcycle, BRP (Bombardier), Ducati or Segway-Nineboot and generated a turnover of about 18 million euros in 2021.

With the acquisition, Lagermax Group expands its proprietary network to 14 European countries.
